Jewellery making instructions Make a Thong Necklace
To make a simple thong necklace first decide if you want beads, a pendant or both on your necklace. You can use waxed cotton cord, leather thong or rat-tail. Cut cord to the length you require (hold it round your neck to the length you want). When attatching a jump ring to a pendant always open the jumpring sideways so you don't pull it out of shape. Place a spring end on one end of the cord and squeeze the the last spiral tightly with flat nosed pliers. Thread on your choice of beads/pendant, attatch a spring end to the other end of the cord and add a hook. Thats it! Adjustable necklace made with 1mm waxed cotton cord
You will need 28" of 1mm waxed cotton cord, 1 dolphin pendant and a selection of toning beads. This is a good way to use up odd beads left over from other projects.
Thread the cord through the hole in the dolphin pendant so that it is in the centre. Thread both ends of cord through a bead, I used a size 4 rocaille, and push the bead up to the pendant. Next thread on your beads, tie a knot after the last bead each side to stop them sliding about.
Make a loose slip knot on one end of the cord and put the other end through the knot and tighten, now tie the unknotted end around the cord. You can now slide the knots along to adjust the length of your necklace.
